KITCHEN AND UTILITY REVEAL

I'm getting a few subtle hints ....
(actually not that subtle, rather more like blatant, honest remarks)
that I'm 'dragging my heels' taking too long in showing the final reveal of the kitchen and utility rooms.

So, I've decided to do things slightly different and show them now,
then save the updates of details etc for later posts.

Here goes then......ta dah!!!!!...........

What do you think of the finished renovations?
I would love to hear from you.

STARS AND STRIPES

The kitchen is complete...yay!

Now time is spent finding new and exciting 'bits and bobs' to put in it.
Some more practical and some not so...

Something we needed desperately were tea towels.
This one was found on a trip recently in Amsterdam at Sissy Boy.

The black wooden stars are less practical but look lovely sitting on the concrete worktop.

CLOAKROOM TOILET (UPDATE)

Once the renovation of our cloakroom toilet was finished, it was time to decorate it with some interesting 'bits and pieces'.

We found this gorgeous head in one of my favourite shops, Baileys Home.  Their principles are recycle, reuse and repurpose found objects....and that's exactly what we did.  We call him Bailey and he sits on the window shelf in the corner beside a glass jar with twigs in it.

What could be more simple and perfect?

INSPIRATION FOR OUR KITCHEN/UTILITY ROOM

I'm a big fan of Paul Massey's restoration and renovations projects.  His style is a bit shabby chic mixed with a muted restrained palette, lots of white, soft browns and grey. It's a combination of aged vintage pieces softened by crisp white... something that I would like to achieve for our house.

The photos below are not from houses that Paul has renovated (well I don't think so) but are very much 'in keeping' with his style.  It is a style that I would like to draw inspiration from for our kitchen/utility room especially the bottom left image.  White walls, grey cabinets, shelves and white Aga....gorgeous.

DREAMS FOR OUR BARN

One of the main reasons we bought The Manor House was because it had a barn. We had hoped to renovate and convert this one day into our work space.

I often dream of what this space would look like.  I found these photos of a stable block in Hampshire, UK, converted by A R Design, into a 3 bedroom- family home. It has the look and feel of what we would like our barn to eventually be like.

Our barn would need to double-up as a work space for us and a living space for guests.  The idea of preserving the original features while making new additions simple and contemporary would be our goal.  A polished concrete floor, white walls and beams would be the starting point.
